How to feel happier today…


When you’re having a bad day it might be tempting to hide under the duvet and wait for it to pass. But just because you may start a day feeling unhappy, it doesn’t mean it has to end that way!

How to feel happier today:

1. Minimise your stress

Feeling stressed is probably one of the most common causes of unhappiness. Our busy lives, trying to juggling all our priorities, means that we are prone to stress which in turn makes everything more difficult to handle. Waking up to a day filled with stressful appointments and deadlines is much more likely to cause us to feel unhappiness, whereas if we minimise the situations in which we feel stressed then we can approach each day feeling much happier and more relaxed [A checklist for chilling out].

2. Exercise

Motivating ourselves to exercise is what makes it difficult, however the actual exercise itself releases endorphins and can help improve our mood and make us feel happier. Not to mention the fact that if we keep it up it will boost our confidence in the long term too!

3. Treat yourself

One of the nicest ways to make yourself feel happier is to give yourself a treat. This doesn’t have to mean heading to the spa every weekend but could just be small things such as treating yourself to a meal out or a night off from doing the washing! Having little things to look forward to can greatly improve the outlook you have of your day.

4. Spend time with loved ones

Being with the people we care about can help bring happiness to us every day, fitting in time to see your friends and family around your busy schedule could give you a little bit of peace of mind that you might need from time to time. Spending some time being sociable can make a big difference in how happy we feel each day!

5. Meditate

Meditation can help us filter out the negative emotions we might feel in a day and help focus on the positive ones. Mindfulness has been found to be particularly successful for many people, improving their quality of life and overall happiness, and can help keep your emotions in check so things never get too much. 6. Set goals

Setting little achievable goals that help make you feel as though you are making the most of your day can make you feel happier. Knowing that you have achieved what you set out to do not only makes you feel productive but also allows you to make more time where you are able to relax because you feel as though you deserve it. 7. Sleep well

Getting little sleep is known to have a negative influence on our moods. There is nothing more satisfying that can help get your day to get off to a good start than having a long and peaceful sleep. 8. Go outside

A great way as to how to feel happier right now is to get a bit of fresh air. It is known to be a cure for many things, one of these being improving your mood. Getting some fresh air and appreciating the small things is exactly what you need to find small sources of happiness every day.
