Mindfulness: The Benefits Of Living A Mindful Life.

mindfulness

The concept of mindfulness has become a popular concept and refers simply, to become more aware of the present moment. This means not worrying about what might have happened in the past or what is going to happen in the future, but taking things day by day and enjoying what you are experiencing in that moment.

What are the benefits of living a mindful life?

You only need the small things to make you happy
When you are living in the moment, this means paying attention to a pretty view or enjoying the fresh smell of the countryside. You are able to properly absorb the environment around you and so just recognising the little things you might not have paid attention to before become things you can seek happiness for. You are more likely to live positively if you spend time trying to find the positive details [5 powerful positive affirmations] in everything.

You have time to consider

Living a mindful life means you take each decision with consideration and are less likely to have regrets. Every choice you make is your own and not from the pressure of a situation but because you have decided what you would feel you are most comfortable choosing. This means saying ‘no’ just as much as you might say yes to situations [How to say no when you are feeling overloaded at work]. Life isn’t about being forced into doing things you don’t want to, nor is it about staying in your comfort zone. Having your full attention focused on the decisions you are making means that you are more likely to choose the ones that are right for you and won’t look back filled with regrets wishing that you had just spent a little more time thinking about it.

It relieves stress

We spend a lot of our lives worrying about what may have happened in the past and what might happen in the future. Bad experiences we have had stay with us in the present moment so that we can never be truly focused on what is happening around us. Likewise, feeling stress about what might be in the future will mean that we let what is happening to us right now slip out of view. Wouldn’t it be nice to focus only what is occurring in the present moment, without carrying any negative emotions that we might feel about what has happened or what might happen? A mindful life is a life where the only stress we deal with is that which we can control in the present moment. If there is nothing we can do about it then we let that feeling go.

We can understand our emotions

A mindful life, in particular mindfulness meditation can help us manage and understand our emotions. Mindfulness meditation refers to taking time each day to view our emotions objectively and to observe our feelings but be able to let the negative ones go without holding onto them. Having this better control of our emotions means that we are more likely to live a positive life rid of the negative feelings that might plague our minds, and this technique has been found very helpful for sufferers of anxiety and overthinking [5 methods to stop overthinking].
